My answers to the
questions posed to me often provide an opportunity to share wisdom gained
in over 30 years of using Astrology as a life guide. I hope you will find
insight as well.
Every
chart is unique, a “one of a kind” map of the Heavens on the day you were
born. However, some life questions come up again and again. The following
“Frequently Asked Questions” may resonate with a situation in your own
life. I am offering this as a way to help you formulate your own questions.
Someone else’s questions may provide insight into an unspoken question
that you have about your life. My answers may shed light upon the wide-ranging
information to be found in your personal chart.
Question: I hate
my job. I actually feel ill as I walk into the building where I work.
Is there something wrong with me or can my Astrology chart help me to
understand why I feel this way?
Answer: First,
there is nothing wrong that a little understanding of your motivations
can’t fix. Finding a satisfying life work is not an easy task. In our
previous telephone visit, you mentioned that you have completed high school
and have tried college but dropped out to take a job. Your chart shows
that you believe that you must begin to make money right away.
You were born when
the Sun was in the sign Capricorn, in a challenging aspect to your Mars
in Libra. The Capricorn part of you would have felt anger when you were
taught to be nice and polite instead of expressing your true feelings.
Your dislike for your present job is based in part because your immediate
supervisor is a woman. Capricorn tends to expect authority to come from
a Father or male authority figure. It isn’t that you must avoid working
for women, rather, it must be for a male or female for whom you have great
respect. Capricorn will follow “the rules” if they are coming from someone
they admire. It will not be easy for you to find “the perfect boss” because
your Virgo personality will analyze the situation until you find the flaws.
That brings us to
the real issue. You are most critical of yourself. You are afraid that
you may not measure up to your Father’s (or other authority figure) expectations.
I urge you to get some practical experience in a field that has an emotional
appeal. When you find that you are in the boring or irritating job, bow
out. It has served its purpose.
You need time to
sort things out and discover what you like, and what you do not like.
I have suggested ideas but they are only a guide. Your chart indicates
that you must be convinced that you can be the best at what you have chosen.
When you choose
a profession that is right for you, you will be eager to learn and take
any courses needed to advance in your job. You will become a workaholic
with very high standards. No wonder you aren’t willing to spend time doing
things you do not like and working for someone who sets your teeth on
edge! Stop being “nice” (Mars in Libra) and follow your heart. I have
pointed out that you have skill in technology, practical arts such as
architecture, interior design, or any home related business. You may be
happiest when doing more than one job or profession. Give your self permission
to experiment and to “fail”. One day you will run your own company. And
remember you have plenty of time.
Question: I was
born in April but people tell me I don’t seem like an Aries. I was born
on April 17, 1982. Can you tell me why my sign doesn’t seem to fit me?
I do seem to be drawn to people born in my opposite sign Libra. Would
I be compatible with a Libra man?
Answer: The Astrology
columns in newspapers and magazines are based upon what is called “Sun
Sign” Astrology. It only takes into account the Sun’s passage through
the signs of the Zodiac. While such columns are fun, they have little
relationship with a chart based upon your birth date, exact time, and
place of your birth. It is easy to understand why many misunderstandings
about Astrology and what it means have come about.
Aries Sun Has Complex
Relationship Pattern.
Even though the
Sun on your birthday was in the sign Aries, it is only part of the story.
The planet that is associated with the sign Aries is Mars. The sign that
holds Mars will act as a modifying agent. Your Mars is in the sign Libra,
the sign opposite Aries. Libra provides a clue to what others are thinking
and feeling. Aries sometimes lacks this insight. You may find yourself
drawn to Libra types and they will find you energizing as well. However,
when you were born, the planet Mercury was in Taurus and thus lends a
more deliberate way of thinking and communicating than your Sun in Aries.
Perhaps you are beginning to see that just knowing where the Sun was on
your birthday is not enough to explain your very complex personality.
Venus is the planet
that tells me how you deal with relationships and express your loving
feelings. Your Venus in Gemini may have a difficult time defining exactly
what you want and need in a partner. Some of your friends may feel you
are rather fickle because you act as if the grass is greener on the other
side of the fence. By choosing a person with a sharp intellect and who
is a good conversationalist, you are unlikely to become bored. It might
be wise to take plenty of time to settle down. In this way you are more
likely to sort out what is truly important to you.
I hope you will
explore all of the eight planets, and the Moon (which happens to be in
Aquarius) that make up your chart before you decide on a partner. It
will take a special kind of person to appreciate the multi-faceted and
interesting person that you are.
Question: I am considering
enlisting in the military service. My best friend thinks I’m crazy. Do
you think I would be happy in a career in the Navy? I have also considered
the Army. What do the planets say?
Answer: After viewing
your chart (date withheld), I am concerned that you are responding to
the excitement of the moment. Just spend a few minutes to recall if you
have made rash decisions that you later regretted at your leisure. The
planet Jupiter is opposing Mars and linking up with planets in your chart.
This is a classic example of over enthusiasm and unrealistic expectations.
You may decide to
choose a career in the military because it appeals to your sense of order
and discipline. Have you considered that you also have an aptitude for
the medical field? Surgeons and Generals often have similar patterns.
The strong sense of adventure and love of travel shown by a Sun in Sagittarius,
can also find it difficult to tolerate being confined to a routine. Army
life is not at all like a travel brochure. May I suggest that you consider
getting an education in a field you feel passionate about before you make
a commitment. Only you can decide if the financial advantages of education
within the military are balanced by a period of confinement within a strict
regimental discipline. I advise taking several weeks to decide. The planet
Saturn, in the sign Gemini, will lend a note of sober reflection as it
opposes your Sun in Sagittarius. This could prove to be a ‘good thing’.
