CANCER

Cancer can be a sign of contradictions. Sometimes you are happy, sometimes sad, sometimes trusting, sometimes suspicious. What is going on? It all depends on how you feel. Cancer is the symbol for the capacity for emotional closeness and much depends on the way you connected with Mom, home and family in the early years. If you felt loved, protected, and secure in the family pattern, you will tend to trust that you can make life work for yourself. The reality as viewed by other family members is not the issue. Others may have seen you as the favorite, however, if you didn’t feel special and secure, it doesn’t count. If those needs were not met early, the Cancer part of you will continue to seek that comfort in some way.

Some will take on the role of caretaker in order to nurture others. You may be secretly waiting for the day when someone will say to you, “Poor Baby, sit down, put your feet up and relax while I get you something to eat. Want a cup of coffee?” You get the idea. The urge to take care of the world can be showered on pets or even plants. In fact, you may have a really green thumb. You can be a real grouch if the lonely blues hit you. Gloom is bad for your health so quickly do anything that creates a happy mood. Your mood improves when near water. When traveling, just remember to take a few familiar things with you to the beach. Take a favorite pillow, family photographs, snack foods, or anything that will re-create home. The sunny side of your sensitive nature is your uncanny ability to know others secrets, but this is a one-way street. On the other hand perhaps you should warn friends, (but you won’t) that you get your feelings hurt from real or even imagined slights. When you withdraw, close the blinds, fail to answer the phone, and hide out they will not understand. You don’t often reveal your own inner secrets. The trick is to develop a level of trust so that you dare to accept friends into the family fold. People lucky enough to be included into that inner circle will treasure the warmth of your Cancerian friendship.

Your emotional sensitivity can be a blessing when you get a hunch that makes money. Money is important because it makes it possible to feel secure, to care for the family, and save for a rainy day. Respect for money means that you get value when you buy and waste nothing, unless your childhood taught you to expect that Mom and the family would provide. In that event you may choose a partner who is good with money and transfer that task to them. In the final analysis, you will strive for emotional and financial security.

Happy Cancerians have reached that goal. The trick to knowing your special Cancerian style is to know which sign the Moon was traveling through on your birthday. The Moon travels very fast. It only stays in a sign two and one-half days. (Some planets stay in a sign for years) So some of the books that give you an estimate of your Moon sign may be wrong. In some cases it is necessary to know the time of day when you were born to be sure of the placement of the Moon.

Astrologers say your sign is “ruled” by the Moon. They mean that the Moon’s qualities are in harmony with the characteristics of the Sun in Cancer. The Moon can be in any sign of the Zodiac, even your own sign, Cancer. The Moon sign can show how you deal with your emotions. If it is in a sign that blends with other factors in your chart, all is well. If on the other hand, it is in a sign that conflicts with your sensitive nature, you may feel misunderstood. It is therefore helpful to determine the Moon sign.
